O Machismo Cigano
O dito machismo presente entre as culturas ciganas é assunto bastante polêmico… O que podemos dizer é que, na maior parte das vezes, esta afirmação é verdadeira.
O homem ocupa a função de patriarca, de chefe da família, na maioria dos grupos ciganos, sendo que deve ser respeitado como tal. À mulher cabe o cuidado para com os filhos e o marido, assim como os afazeres domésticos. Em alguns grupos clãs, a mulher além de dever obediência total ao marido, raramente opina nas questões mais importantes. E, olhando por este prisma, realmente veremos a sociedade cigana como extremamente machista.
No entanto, ao encararmos por um outro ângulo veremos que também é de incumbência do homem cigano, na maior parte dos clãs, proteger a família, assim como ser o braço forte no âmbito familiar. Também este homem deverá ser a sua esposa não só fiel, como também ser seu apoio e segurança.
Às mulheres cabe o papel de transferir ao marido e aos filhos a docilidade feminina, assim como incentivar o companheirismo e o amor familiar. A esta mulher também recairá a responsabilidade de ensinar a prole os bons valores, a beleza da vida e seus encargos, bem como manter este lar em um ambiente alegre e aconchegante.
Vamos dizer, pois, que os papéis são muito bem definidos entre homens e mulheres e, que, de certa forma, os valores representados na unidade familiar cigana são relativamente conhecidos, apesar de antigos se comparados a atual sociedade não-cigana. Pode-se concluir que o dito machismo cigano não passa de uma questão de ponto de vista ou mesmo de criação.
O cigano é um povo apegado aos seus próprios conceitos e isso se explica de uma forma bastante simples. Foi este um povo perseguido ( e ainda é acossado, na maior parte das vezes), vítima de todo tipo de preconceito e de uma mítica equivocada a seu respeito. É normal que sejam defensivos e, que esta conservação esteja galgada na preservação de seus valores tradicionais, bem como em sua forma de viver e coexistir entre seus pares. São defensivos quanto aos conceitos externos, especialmente os valores provenientes dos possíveis criadores de tal discriminação. Daí, a existência de costumes e hábitos já decadentes na sociedade gadjô (não-cigana) como os descritos, que ainda são correntes no meio cigano.
Errados? Certos? Difícil de dizer. Como já se afirmou, tudo pode apenas residir em uma questão de concepção e entendimento ou até de formação. O importante é que resida e impere a compreensão e a sabedoria na compreensão das culturas diversas – tanto para ciganos, quanto para não-ciganos.
